On the 19th December, after the S.V.P Hamper Packing, our YSI group and a few other classmates went down to the sports hall to pack ‘Dignity Bags’ for Tiglin.
The Dignity bags are these bags filled with everyday needs that people don’t first think of when giving to homeless people. We were split into two groups, those who would stand at different stations handing out different items for the bags, and those who would carry the bags up the sports hall collecting the various items as they went.
In these ‘Dignity Bags’ we added soap, toothpaste, toilet roll, sponges, sweets, tinned food, towels, etc… We packed these items into ordinary bags so that when homeless people are walking around with these bags they won’t be recognised as being given to by a charity.
Overall the operation was a success with 100+ bags being packed. It was a good experience and a great thing for the YSI to do just before Christmas.
