On the 16th of April I participated in a three day long course to learn First Aid and how to manage a situation where casualties are involved.
On the first ay we were taught how to administer CPR and we were taught how to diagnose causes of heart conditions and how to properly treat the conditions.
On the second day we continued our work on CPR and advanced into the operation of a defibrillator. We were taught how to apply various dressings and bandages and how to support fractured arms in slings.
On our third day we revised all of our topics over the previous two days and began our exam. This included a written exam; approaching a scene and administering CPR and taking control of the scene; elevate and support a fractured arm in an elevated and support sling; and how to assess a patient and administer a dressing and bandage in the correct fashion.
Overall the three day course taught me the skills necessary so if I ever encounter a situation where people need help, I will be able to assist them.
