On the 22nd Of September we took part in the Eagles' Flight workshop. This was a team building workshop where we were divided into teams of 5-6 to play
"The Search for The Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine."
Yes it is a bit of a mouthful to say to be honest. It's a strategy game based around resource management, preparation, and teamwork. The aim of the game is to manage resources smartly and mine as much gold as possible whilst having enough resources to make it back to base camp (Apache Junction) within the 20 day time limit. Along the way there were natural events that caused us to use excess resources everyday depending on your position on the map.
We could trade resources such as fuel and food at the 3 supply depots scattered around the map, or with other teams also playing the game.
Our team came away with 8 pieces of gold in the end, 6 mined pieces and 2 pieces from selling another team resources they were desperate for. A bit unfair but still, 8 pieces of gold nonetheless. We made it back on the 18th day with 2 days to spare.
Overall the game was an enjoyable experience and the strategy aspect kept me entertained. I kind of wished that the map was larger and that there were more aspects to the game, but overall a very good day.
