For the 2018 TY Musical, we produced, “Legally Blonde.”
Our auditions began in December which were solely based around monologues and singing (I like to think I was ok at acting but I’m afraid that I couldn’t sing for my life).
When we came back after the Christmas break, auditions kicked into full gear. Form groups began dancing rehearsals daily in the halla nua and nearer to the end of January we moved into the Junior School Hall to start practising on the stage.
The musical ran from the 7th until the 9th of February at 7:30 pm. My part in the musical was mostly as a backup dancer in the songs; “Take it like a Man”; “Positive”; and “What You Want” (as an american footballer).
When I wasn’t dancing, I was helping out backstage, lifting people onto platforms, organising props, re-arranging the stage for the next scene, etc…
As a whole the entire musical was a great experience that I would do all over again. The chance to take a break from the classroom to experience the production of a musical is a lasting memory for me.
